THE EVOLUTION OF THE MARITIME CYBERSECURITY CENTER
In 2013, the Southeastern New England Defense Industry Alliance (SENEDIA), a catalyst for thought leadership and innovation in undersea technology, cybersecurity, and Defense technologies, along with other senior business and government leaders in the state, viewed a significant risk from willful threats to their electronic connectivity, and identified the need for an independent not-for-profit organization to focus on ACT – awareness, communities of practice, and training – in our region. From this recommendation, the Maritime Cybersecurity Center was created as a dedicated resource focused on supporting the cybersecurity needs in Rhode Island, as well as extending value to the surrounding New England neighbors of Massachusetts and Connecticut. A special emphasis will be on the maritime community. Our independent, not-for-profit status provides a foundation for excellence and commitment to growing cybersecurity knowledge, skills, capabilities and developing skilled personnel.
